HIV Virus Testing The HIV test used at NCAP is a 10 minute rapid test. The test looks for antibodies in the blood that are associated with the HIV virus. It typically takes up to three months after possible exposure for these antibodies to appear. Any exposure within that three month window period may not show up on the rapid test. It is recommended that you wait three months after possible exposure to get tested to make sure your results are as accurate as possible. Testing typically takes about 30 minutes, and includes a risk reduction counseling session. It is a confidential test performed using a finger-stick, and is available to anyone. For information on pricing, please call our office at (970) 484-44691.
Hepatitis C Virus Testing
Unlike the rapid HIV test, the Hepatitis C test must be sent to a lab for analysis, and results can take up to 2-3 weeks. We’ll call you as soon as your results are available, so you do not have to come back in. The test is performed using a finger-stick and is confidential. Due to the way the body responds to the disease, it can take up to six months after contracting Hepatitis C for a test to come back positive. It is recommended that you wait six months after possible exposure to get tested to make sure your results are as accurate as possible. Please call our office at (970) 484-4469 to see if you qualify for a test14.
